Phases of Pain and Treatment
History/Exam/Xray
After a complete history, examination, and X-rays (if medically necessary) of your complaint Dr. Cough will explain the diagnosis and what the best course of treatment. With Dr. Cough’s background in teaching he will make sure you completely understand why you are hurting and what we can do to fix it.
Severe Pain Patients
Many of our patients arrive to us in severe pain. Many patients will present with issues of a neurological nature. Nerve pain can be the most debilitating of pain, generally an (8/10) to (10/10) on the pain scale. Many of these symptoms include:
- Headaches
- Sharp Pain
- Pain that takes your breath away
- Numbness/Tingling into the arms or feet
- Low back pain
- Sciatica
Treatments
Treatments at Oviedo Chiropractic are customized for each patient depending on the diagnosis. Typically we will perform treatments on the first day of examination. Every patient is different and we have specific treatments that can make the treatment effective and comfortable. For specific explanations of treatments please see our treatment page.
Moderate Pain Patients
Many patients arrive in the office with pain of moderate nature. Many of these symptoms may be either or both neurological and musculoskeletal in nature. Often patients feel that they need a massage or have gotten a massage and the relief did not last very long. Patient’s with moderate pain want to treat ASAP so that it does not get any more severe. Some of these symptoms include:
- Soreness for more than a few days
- Tight/Stiffness/Achy pain
- Occasional numbness and tingling
- Headaches
- Low back pain
- Mild Sciatica
Minimal Pain
Patients will often arrive with pain of a minimal scale. Often times they feel that they are having trouble getting up from a sitting position or that they have to continue to stretch. Patients will often graduate from the severe/moderate categories to the minimal category.

Oviedo Chiropractic wants you to complete your treatment plan as soon as possible. We will provide you with at home stretches/exercises that are specific to your diagnosis and modify them throughout the treatment process to get you feeling great again quickly!
